your not supposed to be able to on ANY UNIT LEGALLY!!!!!
but they do sell bypass kits. i have a bypass on my alpine unit that is automatic all the time. so i can watch dvds any time i want.
some people just use toggle switches to flick the ground code to the unit. but IMO just buy a bypass unit and let it do all the work.

what do you think about this model? im trying to find more reviews on it.

I wqas also looking at a Pioneer AVH-P5100DVD, same price but it only has 4v and i would have to buy a new ipod cable.

its illegal for the driver to be able to see the dvd screen while driving so to be LEGAL in the front seat the screen has to be tilted to the passenger so the driver cannot see it. which is imposible.
but the back seat is legal no matter what.
common sense is the driver sees the screen with a interesting dvd they want to look which means your eyes are off the road and THATS VERY BAD!!!!!!!!

you can with my alpine listen to what ever you want and you can switch the picture to the dvd.
but im pretty sure a cop can still write you a ticket if he sees the video when your driving.
i have put it to video plenty of times and still no ticket since no cop has seen me yet.... knock on wood...

that's not what i meant when i ask that, i just wanted to know if i could listen to good music as i watch **** jk. anyways, the model i want is out of stock on sonic, so i could get the one that's a little more that has 1 more input that i don't need, or buy it from this site, armexcaraudio.com. i don't no anything about this site...ill have money left over to buy the bypass tonight with the one on armexcaraudio.com.

well with any screen i also highly suggest a screen protector! and if its a touch screen its a MUST! its really easy to scratch the screen and theres NO WAY to remove the scratch... but if you use a screen protector you can at least peel it off and put a new one on. well worth the cost for one for the security!
