Default Just got Done at Crutchfield...

Did I do okay?

First let me say I am a starving college student so it is definitely a budget build.

I have a kenwood deck that I put in at Christmas and today I just ordered

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_065S95/...S95.html?tp=91

and
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1086022...2si.html?tp=95

I dont want to run an amp just because it's a bitch and I'm so over it.

Did I do well?

thoughts?

oh and with my coupon code it was all for 140 all inclusive read: shipping, harnesses, etc.

Could have done better....Crutchfield is overpriced and they don't carry pretty much any of the truly good brands....but with that said, the price you got wasn't too bad

I don't have experience with Boston's, but 6x9s in general arent that great, no matter what they are.

I own those infinitys.....be prepared for no midbass.....and harsh tweeters. They are better than stock, but not a whole lot. And forget having any bass on rap songs, or really any song, without a subwoofer

I have those 6x9's, somehow blew one of them, but it was probably due to my cheap faulty amp.

they were great when they worked though...

they're more for mid-high's, weak low's compared to others

As far as overpriced I enjoy the free harnesses and I'm so sick of buying on ebay. Im on my third scam. I did okay for 140 though. I figure that if it isn't what I want I can get an amp and wire it all. I should have just left the wiring in there. I don't know why I took it out to begin with...

I was checking out the "harnesses" you get from Crutchfield for those speakers (although it says for most cars), then I realized, I cut the OEM ones off and just used the wires to hook my speakers up. No problems at all.

BTW, I am rockin' $10 6.5'' Sony 3 way's that I got used off of HT, and OEM 6x9's. I have an Alpine five channel amp (I got off of CL for $80), and a Bose subwoofer from my buddy's RSX type S for $30 sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. I am too focused on my turbo project to be looking around for wiring. So not including the head unit, I spent a total of $120 on my sound system so far.

yep another DITO.... crutchfield is way overpriced... your paying alot for there support. i bought from them once and there customer service is very nice but for the money i save.... ill never buy from them again...

as to buying off ebay. first off if the deal looks to good and there feedback ratting is low like under 500.... its a risk yes.... then you look at what they have been selling and there feedback and if its over 95% good feedback with a rare negative feedback.... you cannt satisfy everyone and quite a few people are just to needy and expect to get the stuff next day... you gotta be real. typicaly takes a few days for ship and then the time for the delivery service to deliver it to you.
and once they leave the negative even for unfair reasons it typicaly stays.

now its not fool proof but i have over 300 transactions on ebay in the last 7years and ive only been ripped off 3-5 times. sometimes you take a risk for a good buy and get burned from a low feedback bad seller but most of the time im very happy.
just remember for anything thats used.... be sure to get pictures.

an amp won't really help with those infinitys having no bass.....it'll be louder, and cleaner though. Can't tell you what the bostons will sound like

And no offense, but all you have to do cut, strip, and then use spade connectors or butt connectors for the wires. Now for a Head unit......thats a different story.

All in all, not bad for $140

it's not so much the feedback number, it's the actual rating, like 100% or 85%. Anything under 98.5 I usually look elsewhere. Been using ebay for a few years, have never been scammed and I'm not overly cautious either.

ya for the head unit NEVER EVER EVER cut the factory harness. just one thing you need to learn fast! the wires are never long enough and its very easy to simply buy a harness adaptor and then do all your wiring inside your houe and simply plug it in and your done in your car.
