JL audio W6?
I have changed my mind after doing some research and talking to some guys around town. Instead of a Kicker baric(the only sub's i've ever owned.) I have made up my mind to give JL a try. I'm going to get one of the W6 seires subs. I was told that all I needed in my car was a W6 10v2. But i have checked around and I can get a W6 12 for just a little bit more money that the 10 inch. I know that i will probably have to get a bigger amp if i get the 12 inch(400watt RMS @4OHMS). I also found a 12 inch W6 that my buddy has and he said he sell it for $300 so he was a W7, but is this to much for our cars? what do you guys think about this?

theres no such thing as TO MUCH.... only thing there is TO MUCH if if you try to fit a 18inch sub in the truck!
you can fit up to a 15inch sub with no problem. only downfall with a civic is the alternator and battery size. its a small battery and a weak @ss 70amp alternator. so the electrical system can only handle ruffly 600watts rms and not dim hardcore... anything more than that and you need to look into upgrading the alternator to a high power unit. and then it can handle what ever very easily!
just as long as the sub can fit and you find a box to put in the trunk.

If he doesn't upgrade and goes with 2000 watts RMS, I can almost guarantee you that he will blow the power supply on that amp!

o ya any high power amplifier needs alot of power or it can easily dip the electrical system past 10volts and go up in smoke.... i burnt ALOT of amplifiers up when i first started slaping in systems....
main thing is if you get a very nice amplifier it should have some type of internal safety's that do help prevent blowing a amplifier but are not completely fail safe.
