Default iPod install! (check out my dashboard)

Finally, no more FM transmitter for my iPod! After 2 1/2 years I caved and dropped the $87 on the aux input adapter for my head unit.

Installed it the other day with some help from amg6975. The adapter has 3 inputs (2 RCA and 1 USB?!) and goes in line between the CD changer and the head unit. It's in the space behind the center console.

Enjoy the pictures of all the crap inside my dashboard. It was like that when I got it.

Keep in mind people... that first picture is after A LOT of organizing and rerouting. What a disaster zone that was. We got it fairly fixed up though, don't worry. I don't really even know how to explain it... it was like a big web of wires that went to random things and didn't really make any sence. There's 4 to 5 relays in there, one we figured out is the side marker lights, who knows about the other ones, random groups of wires that have no aparent finction, tons of fuses, small mammals, etc.

Maybe the dude that it before you just put them all in there to confuse anyone trying to detatch the alarm.

Anyone have a pic of what it's supposed to look like in there? I'm curious. Especially the panel under the steering wheel.

Damn Dude!!! You have a rats nest in that car. I would hate to trouble shoot a wiring problem under your dash. congrats on your Ipod set up. How is the FM transmitter I was thining about getting one but just didnt want to plop the money down for it?? I have had a couple of years experience on stereo and alarm instalations. and that alarm install could have been done alot better. What kind of alarm do you have? Sometimes it makes it more of a mess with all the relays needed if not built in. Behind the stereo doesnt look that bad a couple of zip ties would have cleaned that right up. BUt as long as the alarm works good I wouldnt mess with it.

Just make sure there isn't any wires that are gonna rub against any sharp metal edges.......

Or you'll be pullin hair out when it comes time to have to do any trouble shooting because of it.

Wow, that is a mess of wires, but it will be worth it. FM transmitters are notorious for horrible sound quality. DC is always a better choice ig you don't mid a wire.

So will this work on any deck? I know I talked to the guy at a local stero shop and he said for kenwood you buy an adapter and you use the DECK to change songs and its slow. Does this allow you to change using the ipod?

mxs' set up just adds an aux input, you have to change songs and stuff on the iPod still. bobbytonic's setup you use the head unit controls to change songs.
