Installing LED in vents

RE: Installing LED in vents
u really dont need to connect to the battery, if u already have an aftermarket radio you can just hook it up to the ACC ON wire (Red on aftermarket harnesses) leds dont have a very high draw so the fuse wouldnt need to be changed, you can just ground the led to body somewhere or the black wire behind the radio.

RE: Installing LED in vents
Yeah I don't have the aftermarket radio. I think I have figured it out though. If someone can read this and tell me if I understand. There are three connections on the switch.
1. Power wire: it goes directly to the battery (which could just be stripped a few inches at the end and coiled around the battery.
2. LED wires: Those come from the Transformer for the dual cathodes.
3. Ground wire: which I could connect to any piece of metal in the car, probably the seat since thats where the LED's will be placed.
Hopefully I am understanding this correctly. If so the only tricky part really is getting the wires through and hidden.

well power wire... not needed to go to the battery directly......
look at your fuse box inside the car under the dash and simply with a 12v auto light tester and find the right powered with the ignition only male spade terminal. and with a INLINE FUSE conected to that terminal with a 5amp fuse then run that wire to the lights power wire. or slap a switch inbetween the two to control it... ON and OFF..

Ok so I'm a visual learner, can anyone post a picture of where you are talking about for the fuse box. Not the fuse box itself but where the only male spade is? I apologize for my not understanding all of this. I am new to the whole electronics aspect of cars...it's something I have never touched before.

RE: Installing LED in vents
Ok so forget that previous message, I think I understand what you are talking about. You would connect an inline fuse directly to the fuse box, then from the inline you connect the power wire that goes to the lights or switch. The only problem I have now is finding a fuse that is open in the fuse box. I just went out and looked and don't see any that are empty. Are you saying that I am taping into other wires? or are there empty terminals? If someone could take a picture of this I would really appreciate it. Otherwise I guess it may just have to go directly to the battery.

you cannt not just put a fuse in the fuse box.......
you need to use a male spade terminal..... if you havent done any electrical it can be very confusing definatly!!!!!
just remember to always add a fuse and NEVER replace a fuse with a larger fuse if it blows! if ya do and thier is a short its only a matter of time till your wires catch on fire and kiss your car goodbye!!!!!!!

something like that is what ya need... that black square is where the fuse is sealed in. just pull the top cover off to access the fuse....
then cut the wire..... and crimp on a female spade terminal and plug it into the fuse box open spade terminal.... then run the other side of the wire to the switch or to the light source power wires..... a simple toggle switch is fine. 2 wires on it... one input one output.... doesnt matter which wire realy...

RE: Installing LED in vents
Right like you said not knowing electricals makes things very difficult. I don't think I'm going to do this anymore because I don't understand it really. I understand what you are telling me but I guess I just need to see someone doing it in order to understand and do it myself. Thanks for the help though, would it be easier if I just found a kit? Or is that going to be just as difficult?
