i get shocked!!!!????

i installed a system and when i get out of my car and shut the door i get zapped every time. i disconnected the ground wire to my amp and the main cable from the battery to the amp and i still get shocked? whats causing it to shock me?

ahaha this happened to my friend, he had a ford ranger truck. just because its not connected to the amp doesn tmean power isnt going through it. remove the fuse from the fuse holder and see if it happens, if it doesnt, more than likely some wire is exposed and touching.

yeah not too sure whats going on..did not install myself. a buddy did it and messed something up not willing to fix it. and i don't know anything about that stuff. thanks guys

This is static electricity. Remember how, under certain conditions, you could shock people by scuffing your feet on the floor to charge yourself up? The same thing happens to cars under certain conditions. It isn't related to any of the electrical stuff in the car.

could just be seat material and clothing fabric...my dads pickup does it all the time no matter what you're wearing.

As mk says, it could be normal. Houston weather is typically humid, which prevents the build up of static charge. With winter comes arid air that allows for static build up and electrical shocks almost every time I exit my car.
