how to connect amp to speakers

Default how to connect amp to speakers

sorry if its a newb question. So i was trying to connect my amp to my front speakers and when i connect the wire to the amp and connect it to the speaker.. all 4 of my speakers just stop working but when i disconnect it, all the speakers work fine. how do i connect my speakers to my amp? pics would be great if possible

so when your speakers are connected to your amp, is the amp connected to the head unit?

yea the amp is powering my sub atm. and its connect to the deck. but i dont know how to connect it to my speakers

What kinds of amp is it? how many channels? How exactly did you hook the speakers up?

i think its 4 ch? and i connected wires to ch1 + and - of the amp and then connect those wires to the speaker

does it have four + and four -? and you connected the wires to the speakers or the subwoofer?

yea it has 4. to the speakers. my sub has been acting weird.. when the volume is all the way off the sub is making a sound. like a heart beating sound. right when i turn on my car it has a beat even without music. is the amp messed up?

So you might have jacked the amp up if you did what i'm thinking....you hooked up each speaker to a separate channel right?

You would connect the four main (front and rear) speakers to either the head unit's speaker outputs, or an external amplifier -- NOT BOTH. Connecting two amplifiers to one speaker does not give you more power. The amps just fight each other and often burn out.
