Ok my girlfriend just bought a Civic ex and I was wondering if you guys knew of a good price for the XM unit that works with the factory "xm ready" radio. I dont like dealing with dealers so unless thats the last choice I would prefer someplace else. Thanks in advance.

 

my mom has an 04 accord and its xm ready.. like im guessing the civic already is? in that case you dont need anything exept to call xm and set it up.. unless you dont have xm and you have the stock deck thats not xm ready. your gonna need a new deck.. probably around 300 bucks and then the xm kit wich is about 100 bucks. you can either have the car/ home kit where you can take it out and put it in your house.. but it dosnt look as nice as just using the cd deck as the xm radio.. good luck

 

I think the salesman said that it needs the reciever and thats it (other than the service itself). What I got from that is all you should need to do is bring it to best buy or something buy a receiver and have it installed and it should be ready to go.

 

Be careful letting a rookie take apart the dash on your gal's civic....you'll have a scratched up mess when they are done. The stuff scuffs easily.

 

Sorry man, what you need is what the dealer has. If it is XM ready, that means in is ready to be putin and then broadcasted. You have to buy a direct interface, through honda, and have them put it in. If i'm not mistaken that is the only place that can do it. I know circuit city or best buy has nothing for you, unless you want to swap the stereo and go with an aftermarket direct interface (pioneer, alpine, etc.)

 

yeah circut city put a dent in the passsenger side i didnt notice it till i got home i was pissed and had them take it out. when they put the stock deck back in they left part of the carpeting hang out...
