Fitting 2-DIN H/U in 2005 3dr civic
Hi all, I'm new here so please go easy I'm looking at the new Kenwood DNX7200 2-DIN DVD unit with in-built satnav. The problem seems to be actually fitting this in my dash. My dash looks like:

With the exception that it is mirrored as I have a right hand drive civic. I'm having a really tough time getting hold of a 2-DIN fascia to fit in this dash and I'm currently thinking I may have to roll my own. Anyone know if I can get a premade item for this dash or will I have to make my own? Thanks for any help.

i dont think the opening is wide enough at the bottom to fit a double din radio, ive seen some body buy the Honda/acura double din kit and just cut their dash wider at the bottom and just fitting the other dash kit in, but unless u have good fiberglass skills i dont recomend it.

I have the same dash, and I'm pretty darn surethat you can find a trim piece that will hold a double din. But I think it is kinda rare, go to the highest end car audio place in your area and ask them (try and get the manufacturer's name then check ebay). You should check out the double din Pioneer/Premiere heads, I've had4 pioneer heads and they are fantastic!First threewere replaced cuz I wanted new features not cuz ANY of them broke! (I've never hada double din DVD/NAV tho).

Hi and thanks for the reply I have found the Metra you mention at:
http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/70661/997895.html
But it seems to be for an Accord. That site lists a few different units for the civic but all single DIN sadly

OF COURSE IT WORKS!! The 2 DIN holder in my 04 sedan is out of the 7th gen SI model... mine needed to be modified and doesnt look as flush as yours will in your car... the bracket can be bought for 6.5-7" screens...
See where it is cut back and not flush... well we had to do it to get it to work because all they had was for the SI.

ya looks like it should fit in thier...
ONLY problem i had with my alpine DD in my 99 civic is the stupid trim ring.... you had to cut it down to fit in the opening... then i drilled some new holes in the mounting cage to move the radio back alittle more for a more flush look... still need it moved back alittle bit but still looks good as-is...
those stupid trim rings only come in one size with the radio so for MOST cars ya have to cut them down to fit... which sucks!
