Another thing that would be interesting to try is a USB hub and an array of up to four 8 GB flash drives (which have gotten real cheap lately). Again this is going to depend on what the software in the head unit will support.

yea, exactly im sure there will need to be some sort of software for the deck to recognize it

i would use a flash drive over a hard drive. Hard drives are pretty fragile and everyday driving would possibly ruin the drive.

hardly the case at all i have had carpc for years and not once has a hard drive failed, and i have a super stiff suspension and feel every bump. They are quite tough more than what you think.

i just see alot of hard drives at work (pc tech) that fail from little jolts. Not to say they wont work.

but ya IMO just stick with a ipod...
im really thinking about buying a new ipod with video myself since my new alpine deck has video capabilities and my old ipod nano doesnt have video
i just dont know if i can put any kind of video on the ipod or does it have to be bought from itunes or something...
