I need some assistance in installing some door handle lights, but I don't want them to be on all the time. I need to have them only come on when I unlock the car, and then to turn off when I start the engine, since (as far as I'm aware) it is illegal to have them lit when driving on the roads.

Do any of you know if this is possible, and if so, how would it be done. I'm a total n00b when it comes to modding cars, but I do know which end of a soldering iron to hold

 

never heard of it man....post some pics, we'll be able to help you out. And if they're blue or red, they're prolly illegal.

those seem kinda expensive!

but its very doable.... BUT the hardest part will be finding the power source for that activity....
BUT check out your dome lights... do they come on when ya unlock the doors or when ya turn off the car...

i know my dome light comes on and then fades out.... BUT im not sure abotu when i unlock the doors if it comes on or not... plus i have aftermarket keyless entry system...

that will be your hardest thing to create......

i dont know of any accessories that will do that for ya... hooken it up to the dome light might work... but unlocking it can be a problem

 

I know this will sound like a stupid thing to say, but, I'm confused by the term "dome lights" sorry.

I may just have to have a controller unit made up, I know what the logic diagram would be (see attached pic)

EDIT: THEN I'm gonna have to try and work out what to wire the controller up to lol.
