Default converting 6.5" speakers to 6x9"

i have a 2000 integra 2 door and apparently there were two options in the speaker type in the back. 6.5 or 6x9. i bought speakers off bestbuy.com and they said they would fit my car. i bought 6x9's. i go to put them in and the speakers i have are 6.5'.

has anyone done this conversion before, and what do i need to do to do it?

im assuming just as long as i get the speaker mounted securely, i can use the same speaker wire correct?

alright, yea i called installation at best buy and the guy said that they could install it but they might have to do something which would add another labor hour on, and for them to install my deck and 2 speakers it would cost $225.

haha i think this is a good time for me to learn how to do these things myself

Jesus thats a rip! Ive not done an install on an Integra myself, but if you go to this link: http://fliaudio.co.uk/downloads/FLI%...20Template.pdfand print out the template, cut out the 6x9 cutout and then place it over your speaker holes, make sure you position the centre of the template in the centre of the original hole! The carfully mark round the template with a pencil or marker pen or something distinctive (it can be a crayon for all you care, as long as you can see the line!) Then go and take that old jigsaw your dad told you never to touch as a kid out of the garage, and then cut round those little lines you drew, make sure you stay close to the line.. drop in the 6x9's and then screw them down, re-connect the speaker wires and you should be done... To be honest though the best way to go could well be to replace the 6.5 speakers with decent6.5 inch components, this way in most cases you get the woofer, a passive crossover and a tweeter. Usually these sound much nicer than factory standard crappy speakers.
