Default Clifford Matrix 50.5x? Good System? $500 Installed??

Well its time to finally add an alarm to my car as im trying to fix her up decent and dont want anyone to mess with it.

I was looking at the clifford 50.5x today while getting my tints done and i can get it for 500 installed.

This will include battery kill and remote start.

Has anyone used this unit before and have some words on it?

I did some searches on the internet and it seems to be a good system and the price seems about right to me.

I will speak with the installer to make sure that he hides the brain well and doesn't do a crappy job.

I watched them do some audio work on a truck today and the install was pretty clean. The wrapped all there cables in wire wrap and it was a pretty nice set up.

I think i should ask how much more it would be for a back up battery/ siren for the system as well. I would like maybee trunk release and window functions but those are not needed now and i can possibly add those in later on.

So what do you guys think, any help will be greatly appreciated.

I like the clifford alarms. I do installs and most of the time I put in Viper alarms which are the exact same alarms just with a different brand name. They are both made by Directed electronics and are pretty much the best ones out there along with Cobra.

They are really good quality alarms, but just remember that and alarm is only as good as the install. So just make sure the person doing it has plenty of experience.

If you like to leave your windows down you may consider a proximity sensor. It one of those pieces that if someone gets too close to the car it warns them, and if they reach inside the carthealarmwill completely go off. you can usually get them installed for 125-150 on top of the alarm.

Also they make battery backup systems so that if your battery on the car dies, the alarm will still be fully functional (except for the remote start). dont know the price on these but these are pretty useful when you accidentally leave your lights on and the battery dies.

neither of these are really necessary but are nice little add ons.

I knew i forgot to ask something.

The alarm in question only comes with one LCD screen pager unit.

I have 2 spare normal 4 buttons units from my old alarm.

Can i have those programmed to work with my new unit?

If so what is the average cost of something like that.

Most of the time they will not work. The alarmswill only work withone or two different types of keypads that are made by the same brand.

What brand are the extra keypads that you have?

I am gonna have to say no i dont think they will work. If they were made by directed electronics (the companythat makes clifford, viper, and cobra)they might have worked, but since they were not i'm pretty sure they won't work
