Default cigarate lighter wont work

well my cigarette lighter wont work. i dont know why i have checked the fuses and the wiring. well not really the wiring since i can only go so far, i would really like to get this working since i have a gps all ready for it

well the wires only go to this plastic tubing that you would have to break in order to check all the wires behind it.

Check right where the wires connect to the back of the socket, that's where the problem would be. Use a meter or test light to be sure the center wire is live (if not, go back and check if both ends of the fuse are live), and the outside wire is grounded. Remember that you have to turn the key on to energize the circuit.

haha mine doesnt work either but I have no use for it anyways so i just left it not working...

It has to be the fuse. I had the same issue and got it fixed

cig lighters should be constantly on? they are wired straight off the battery. if it doesnt work just look for an empty connector on the fuse panel and wire it to the lighter.

my cig lighter isnt always on, i have to have they key turned to acc or have the engine on in order for mine to work

I think that's the case with all Civics, stock wiring is such that the lighter is only energized when the key is on. Most Toyota, Subaru, and other Japanese brands are the same way.

not i my civic(never checked), but in my dads older cars, they were on all the time. i wired one up im my old truck straight off the battery, must have been a fire waiting to happen. hows someone supposed to lite a "cigarette" without the keys????
