Hello everyone.

I've scoured the internet, including the forums on this site, and have so far not found what I'm looking for. If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated.

I'm seeking a diagram or table identifying the wire colors in the round 8-pin connector used to connect an auxiliary audio device to my stock '98 Civic stereo (such as a Honda tape deck or CD player).

Ideally, I'm looking for a way to use this cable to attach any audio device with a headphone jack, such as an MP3 player. I'm not sure if I can fool the stock stereo into thinking that my hacked cable is a tape deck, but I'm trying! This would allow me to continue using my stock stereo, while being able to play from other devices without having to use a tape deck adapter or radio transmitter. I've already fried one fuse mixing the wrong cables, and would like to avoid buying more fuses if I don't have to.

Thanks for any help you can give! I may not be able to get my hair-brained scheme to work, but I'd still like to know the wire color code in the 8-pin cable.

 

dont they sell adapters for stock headunits to convert it to a pair of rca's? i know they do it for aftermarket headunits, and i think i heard some people talking about it for stock HU's.

 

You might be better off purchasing an aftermarket head unit with an easy access auxilary jack.
