has anyone found that if they have bought speaker (that aren't alpine type r's) for the front doors that they don't actually fit, i heard that the only thing to do is cat a bigger hole to fit the back of the speaker in.
also money no object, what are the best door speakers around??

maybe a dumb question, but did you buy 6" speakers? or 5 1/4" or 6x9" ? As far as "best" speakers, if money is no object, trust your ears and try out a bunch, no matter what the pricetag says (high or low). Keep in mind your speakers will sound different in your car then they do in the showroom, but its not a huge difference.

well unsure of your door panel situation.... but to find out if you can even fit the speaker... pull the whole door panel off and look behind where the speaker would go. you can buy the best speaker in the world and if it wont fit... it wont work.LOL

focals are the best speakers in my opinion. well at least out of the regular consumer market. they are very well ballanced but unfortunately for me they are too expensive for my wallet. by the k2 series or the utopia series are freakin awesome.
and as far as fitting all i had to cut on my door was the cup behind the factory speaker which us unbelievably easy with a dremel tool. but im not sure about the newer ones

I agree with sig racer. I have never heard anything better sounding then the focal utopia b's...gotta find a place for that somewhat rack mountable crossover though hah! Make sure to get a high quality amp as well. McIntosh is good if you can get your hands on it, also audison is a very strong amp that is a more realistic purchase.
You can also buy a mid-bass kit that you have 2 woofers and a tweeter, it seperates sound even more.
Know what you are getting into with these sort of components though. I normally do not mention this but make sure you have a high-votlage output on your deck if you do not they make kits that increase the votage output (I am not talking about wattage either) to have a cleaner better signal.
When spending this kinda cash you only want to be getting the cleanest best signal to be able to reap the benefits.
