JL w1's are almost the starting level for the subs, the v2 are the newer ones, my friend had the old style jl w1 and they just pounded, they are great subs to start with and its jl so your getting good SQ. A sealed box is great for lower bass, ported is if you want more SPL, i used to have sealed and now i have ported, i like the ported much better

Really how loud are they going to be? Its either these for $200 or I could get W6's for $550. I really don't know if I can justify the cost. Along with that id need a hefty amp since the one I have now definatly will not power them. What would you recommend?

Thanks
Jeff

Well, to each is own... in my years of experience with diff brands of subs id still stay clear of JL unless I get dealer pricing or its given to me.

I'll second that. Rappers love the high end stuff but unless you're looking sell your house go with something else.

Yeah, the w6 isn't that great. It's just good enough where it has to tangle with this beast. I'd rather have the JBL anyday.

^ That is the bottom end of the top of the line. It pwns. But you need a juicy amp to move air with that ****.

The W6 around here is very expensive (550-600 each). Would the lower down versions (ie W1 or W3) be ok? They dont damage the wallet and ill still get 250 RMS from each. I dont need HUGE GIANT sound as im not in any competitions but I do want something that sounds good and is loud when I need it to be.

Thanks

Jeff
