should i run a backup battery with the brain. what would be the point of this if the wires for the sirens are cut. i think it should still power the piezo sirens, am i correct?

IMO i wouldnt bother with them... just hook up the starter kill and you should be good... ya got a HX automatic right? automatics dont seem to get stolen as much for the obvious

a backup siren works for if the wires are cut on it then the siren will just keep going off with its built in battery. DOWNFALL with a backupsiren unit is it has 4 wires coming off it... if they just cut the power siren wire and leave the other power, ground wires then it will be disabled thinking the alarm just shut off.. IMO they are crap and not worth the hassle of fooling with! just put a few sirens on the car so if they want to silent the car they will have to do some work... like pop the hood and cut the ground wire off the battery then they sure arent gonna be stealing your car.LOL

i'm guessing since the back up siren is only $20 i might as well get it and be a little more protected. do you mean adding two under the hood sirens?

yup got an hx auto. at night my kind of hard to see through the tint, can only see through a little bit. only easy to see inside is through the front windshield and there is tint strip on top. easy to see through on a sunny day though. already had someone broke my passenger side window while i was sleeping overnight at my girlfriend's place. usually when i'm at home i have it parked in my garage. luckily the tint held the shattered glass in place. guess they just want to mess with my glass. now that i am getting a clifford with glass breakage sensor hopefully i will be alerted.

if instaled right and securely and properly fused..... i dont see any problems using it.. lets face it if you delete your key lock on the outside you can still get in with either the front trunk cable or just thru the back seats

i think i will get the directed trunk solenoid then, because my friend has one on his evo 9 and my other friend has it on his prelude.

just one last question and i will be set with my setup. since you don't like the backup battery would it be better with a backup battery sirens (under the hood)? and should i use one or two piezo sirens?

as to where to mount the thing... well i havent tried to do mine yet. i have several of the cheapies laying around just never tried to hook it up yet. but i think if i was to hook it up i would delete the rear key hole and use that key linkage to pop the trunk lid. see if you put it on the other cable linkage then everytime you pop it your front release handle will have more stress every time you use it and can break or crease that cable.
I went with the cheaper one based on this guy's recommendation: http://causeforalarm.thecarthing.com...k_release.html

The only problem I ran across is that the dang Civic was not like the Acura with easy access to that bar. Every time I try to mount it, I am either too close or too far away for the popper to work properly. One of these days I will figure it out!
