AUX input for iPod nano

AUX input for iPod nano
I just (as in 48hrs ago) purchased an 07 Civic sedan LX. It came with an aux input jack and an aux function in the stereo. My question is how do I use these to input my iPod nano? Until now I have been using and FM transmitter. I tried using a plain old av cord (put one end into ipod headphone slot and one end into aux jack) and I couldn't hear a thing. The stereo automatically recognized the aux function and that was it. Is there another cable? Help would be appreciated. I am somewhat dense when it comes to technical or electrial jargon, so you may have to spell it out for me. I am addicted to my ipod, but I would like to be able to use this instead of the fm transmitter.

Hmmm that sounds right what you did.
The cable is the same on both ends right?
make sure the ipod is playing and at a good volume(as if you were listening thru headphones), then adjust the volume in your car.

Get a Belkin car charger with the stereo output on it (eBay for $10-12). Connect the Nano to the charger and the stereo audio cord from the charger base to the aux input. Sending a signal from the headphone jack is poor quality audio.

Your radio should recognize when your iPod is connected. Just turn it to "AUX" and then turn your iPod on, and then push to play a song.
and make sure the radio volume is on, as well as the iPod volume.

RE: AUX input for iPod nano
I just picked up one of those cables for our Nano today and it works fine. Just plug the cable in at both ends, make sure teh volume setting is max'd, hit play and adjust volume using the car stereo. I think the first time I plugged the cable into the Aux jack, I had to hit the CD/Aux button to get it to work.
Only problem is that the shortest cable I could find is 6ft long!!!!!!! Grrrrr! Anyone know if I can just cut a piece of the cable out and re-solder it together without cusing any problems? Polarity issues?
