Default Automatic door locks

The door locks on our 2004 Civic LX lock automatically once the car is put into gear. When you put it in park, they all unlock. I HATE this feature. How can I disable it? They never used to do it until the battery was disconnected, then reconnected. The owner's manual doesn't have any clues on how to disable this setting.

well my 02 honda civic works differently. Mine locks when i start the car and the car is on for 3 seconds then it locks, and mine unlocks when i turn my car off.

BTW why you hate the feature?

Actually, what you described is more accurate. Still, though, I don't like the automatic feature.

Call me old school, but I'm a believer that the more the little motors are used, the faster they will wear out. I don't want to have to replace door lock actuators in two years because the automatic lock/unlock wore them out unnecessarily.

So, anyone, help?!?!

o come on... it snot that important and they dont wear out that quick!!!!! not even close!

PLUS if they do go bad it would just have to be replaced with a aftermarket door lock actuator which are VERY CHEAP!!!!!!
but ive never had to replace any door lock actuators for any reason! most ive done is ADDED door lock actuators which still work perfectly to this day!

dont worry about it! that safety feature is for your well being!
helps prevent car jacking! and that alone should be well worth the cost of some cheap actuator parts!
