Default amp fuse

i have a 91 civic 4 dr dx with a cheap 160W amp and 2 cheap subs. the main fuse (60 amp) for the car melted and so did the 30 amp fuse in the amp, but there is also a 30 amp fuse in-line on the power cable directly from the battery that powers the amp and it is still ok. how did the fuse in the amp melt and could there be any problems with the wiring that could cause the main fuse to blow?
