Default 92 Civic VX CD player issues plz help

I am having some problems with an aftermarket radio that i am installing in my car. Prior to this one i had instaled a budget Dual from best buy and put it in no problem. However about 2 weeks ago my hatch was broken into an my radio was jacked (no alarm so i couldnt be but so mad). After getting an alarm installed and my door and hatch latch fixed i bought an el cheapo pioneer 1900 series for around 60$. I installed the radio and new wiring harness and the radio worked well for about 3 days.

Then one night as I am driving home I hit a small bump on a bridge near my house that I go over EVERY day. However for some reason today the power cuts out. I take the radio out refasten all the wires....still no power. I check my fuse in the car, which was still fine since the radio and cigarette lighter run off the same fuse so that wasnt it. I used my voltmeter and checked the red to the ground after the harness and read 12 volts. Still wont Cut on.

I take it back and get a new one...no power....I return THAT and get kenwood 335 (or 355 cant remember) and it STILL doesnt work.

My friend believes that the people who installed my alarm messed something up but im not so sure since i am getting power TO the radio and the cigarette lighter. but it wont come on. And I also find it hard to believe that I can buy TWO dud radios from the same place out the box.

I am at my wits end and turn to the more experienced in this field and ask for your help.

Radios have two power feeds, one is always on and one is on only when the key is on. The always on circuit comes from another fuse that is under the hood in the box next to the battery. This fuse is 7.5 amps and labeled "BACK UP." It sounds like it is blown. Check carefully for frayed wires behind the radio that could short out and blow a fuse.

A easy way to determind if its the cd player or wires is 2 run a wire from your hot wire to ur baterry and see if it powers up.

mk378 hit the nail on the head. My back up was gone, replaced it and my stereo came to life. Thanks again!
