Default 8th gen subwoofer amp watts and location

I just bought a 2007 ex coupe. where is the sub amp located and what power is the it? I'd like to add my 10inch sub box to the already 8inch factory sub. What do you think? or, If I could find the sub amp , I could tap off the wires to add my old 300 watt amp to power the sub enclosure. I have searched the net and can't find any specs on the stock sub and amp or the specs on the speakers. who makes them and who makes the premium stereo head unit. It does sound good. thanks for your help!

dont hack into it... thiers to many differences! most likely the ohm load on the factory subwoofer is high probably 8ohms and most subs are around 4 or 2 or even 1ohm also depening on the voice coil configuration...

definatly splice into the rear speaker wires and use a RCA converter... it inputs your speaker wires and changes them to a output of RCA wires which you can simply add to another aftermarket amplifier and then to your sub.....

if in doubt take it to a profetional stereo shop!!!!!!!!!

you cannt just pull the factory sub out and throw in your sub... to many vairables... box size... ohm load... power output. and most likely you will fry your factory amplifier and im sure those units arent cheap!!!!!! which also turns out... you can sell after you add your new equipment and sell to recoupe some of your money!

thanks for the reply. I don't understand what's the difference between getting after market speakers, swapping them out the front and rear and getting an aftermarket sub and swapping that or adding it inline with the factory sub. There should be a safe way of doing this .

the interior speakers should be fine.... BUT most factory subwoofers are 8ohms... which if you hook up a 4ohm voice coil sub to that factory amp it wont take long before the amplifier overheats and is just scrap materials....

if you want to trash the equipment by going cheap be my guest.... but when it sound slike crap and fails.... dont say you werent warned!

even aftermarket speakers have a difference with the factory radios.... also cause of thier ohm load... the stock units are usualy designed at 8ohms also for a beter SQ.... swaping in most aftermarket 4ohm speakers will sound louder but would neccesarily sound beter unless your speakers ar eold and battered.

and the size of the subwoofer encloser makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE on the sound of the sub! thats why they always give you recomended encloser sizes...

if your realy serious with your audio its always best to swap everything out! cd player, speakers, all speaker wires as well. as well as the sub and subwoofer amp and subwoofer box...

thiers alot more involved in puting together a nice stereo than most think!!!!!!! thier wire sizes, box spaces, sealed, ported blablablabla... it must all come together and work pefectly together to take advantage of every watt!

ive had pleanty of people come to me with thier systems thinking they are realy gonna be sweet and my cheap crap i used to have sounded so much beter and louder.. just because they didnt account the quality of the amp or sub or that little ohm load and voice coils....

So you are saying that if the factory amp is 8ohms it is ok to get an 8ohms sub. I just want the bass to go a little lower. The 10 inch 8ohms sub would be enclosed in a box and hooked up to the same wires that the factory sub uses. These would be hooked up together. The only problem would be that it could be underpowered. Would underpowering the subs cause the amp to blow?

The factory setup kicks ***. I'm going to leave it there for now. Honda did a great job with this one. PLus with the factory sub where it is, I have all the trunk space. Does anyone know who made the head unit? Alpine?
