Default 260W Pioneer 6.5 Speaker Setup

I'm about to install four 260w Pioneer speakers in my car, the front are D-Series 6.5 (2-way) and the rear will have A-Series 6.5 (4-way)TS-A1681S . I'm also going to install a 600w Pioneer GM-6100F Amp. I want to know if this is a decent setup with nice sound. I like this setup mainly because everything sits nicely behind the stock grills.

That amp should supply enough power, if bridged. Not sure on the sound of the higher end Pioneer stuff, but I do know their quality has always been pretty standard. I have some of their home sound products and I love them.

Their cheap line *wal-mart, target* type stuff sounds pretty good without an amp, I am sure those amped will put out some clean sound. Just be sure to use your high filter, and don't blow em out with the bass!

i have those 6x9's....they sound pretty good just make sure you have enough power going to them. They sound pretty good though. You might wanna see about some better 6 1/2 but they are decent and good if you wanna keep everything one brand.

Thanks for the feed back guys, I should be getting my kit in the mail tommro. But Stumasters said "don't blow em out with the bass!" but if each speaker can handle "260w" 260 x 4 = 1040w and the amp is 600w how is it possible to blow them out? Maybe there is a figure im not looking at, and I wanna make sure I cover all bases and not end up S.h.i.t Creek without a paddle. Cheers

Well, just stating that high's are just that, high's. It's normal to use your amp's high pass filter when using in car door and rear speakers, in order to keep some of the damaging low's from comming through. Most 6x9's handle bass pretty decent, but some 6 1/2's can start to distort if thrown too much bass. I would turn the high pass filter on and run it at the lowest setting, in other words dont even turn the ****, just have it in the HPF setting, this way, you still get several lows, just not the mega low frequencies that the speakers won't be able to replicate anyway.

You shouldn't notice a difference to the ear, but it may put another year or two on your speakers end life.

Play around with it and see what you think. If it sounds like the HPF is robbing some of the sound, turn it back off. It's just more of a security precaution then anything, in case someone hops in your car, turns the bass all the way up and jams your deck to its max volume.

yeah if you have the HPF on your deck i would put it at around 80-120 to be safe. There is alot of stuff you have to look at besides too much power but mainly distortion. You can have your amp gains turned all the way up and your HU up and send the speakers a dirty signal....Just whatever else stuff you need to ask just feel free to cause when most of us are on here we dont have that much to do anyways...lol
