Default 2005 MP3 Help

Last December I bought my 2005 Civic EX Special Edition. The Audio system comes with "MP3 capabilities" and there's an AUX input on the front.

I'm looking into buying an MP3 player but I want to make sure that I buy one I can use with my Honda. Does anyone have any experience with this? Apparently, Honda corp, my service department, Best Buy, Circuit City and a local audio system retailer...HAVE NO CLUE. It really can't be this difficult.

I just want to know if I need to make sure that I buy a MP3 player with a place for an output or can it be connected through the AUX for the headphones. If so, where would I find a cord with an AUX on each end?

Or.... would I just need to buy a transmitter for the AC adapter in the car, connect it to a USB port and then to the Mp3 player so that it can play through the stero?

If that's the case...what's the point of the AUX on the unit?

Please help...I'm getting pissy. [:@]

Thanks,

Jennie

Default RE: 2005 MP3 Help

You should be able to just run a 3.5mm to 3.5mm (headphone jack size) cable from your headphone output on the MP3 player directly into the AUX IN on the head unit. You can get the cable at Radio Shack for pretty cheap. That would be your easiest option. You need to remember that in this case, the MP3 player will be running off of its own battery power, so you might want to look into a car charger. There are a couple for the iPod that also have AUX OUT connections, and plug into the dock connector on the bottom of the iPod, not the headphone OUT. I've heard that the sound quality is better using this output. The 2 that I know of are the Sik IMP and the Belkin Auto Kit.

I run my IPod in my car. Had to get an adapter since I don't have that aux input on the front, but it works great in my car....although I am not able to use my cd player anymore because I had to disconnect it for the adapter....
