i always keep my rear speakes just for fill...

only thing i would do is get some bass blockers.
i always use some kinda bass blockers on the interior speakers. i always just compensate with a subwoofer in the back

hmm, i'll have to get some of those. you recommend anything in particular? in honesty, the sub i'm putting in isn't very badass, just a 2x10" with cheapo pioneers. i just need to buy a new amp for it. that said, you'd still do bass blockers?

i'm tempted to swap out my stock rear speakers but i figured, "what's the point if i don't have a 4-channel amp, they wouldn't even keep up with the fronts." still, maybe if i buy some decent rear speakers (say mb quart), the small amount of volume being output by the head unit will be more quality than the small amount being output by stock speakers.

a 2x10 speaker is not a subwoofer. its a old school speaker with very poor performance.
if you want a decent bass ya need 8, 10, 12, or 15inch subwoofer.

I mean that I have two separate 10" subwoofers in a sealed subwoofer cabinet...

Any thoughts on putting decent speakers in the rears for now until I can afford 4-ch amp, or is that a waste of time for now?

well good name speakers will sound better than stockers for sure! and if you use bass blockers on them they will sound even better since bass moving the speakers so much can create alot of bad output noise at higher volumes.

but still i know alot of radios that only sound good to so loud. like my alpine radios both only sound good at 22volume 24 max and it goes to 33 i believe. and my alpine radios have built in bass blockers.
but you can put bassblockers on anything... its simply a fatty resistor looking thing. you simply wire it to 1 speaker wire. just remove one wire and connect the bass blocker to it and then wire the other end of the bass blocker to the speaker. very easy to install.
