okay, I've been on forums a while (never import ones though) so I know how annoying the same questions are over and over... but I've done some research and have answered a lot of my questions thanks to this forum but I need a couple answered straight forward, so bare with me folks.


I'm in the market for a 92-95 civic sedan, while shopping around I registered to this forum because I've learned the most from auto forums. I'll be honest that I know nothing about hondas or imports in general (I've been into show trucks/suvs mostly)

so from looking at the swap sticky I'm pretty sure the car I get will have a
D16Z6 motor correct?


my main questions are,


do a lot of people mod this motor? (aka is it worth modding?)


I was thinking of rebuilding, and then modding. only because I don't have a couple grand to drop on a swap. Is there a "cheap" swap? (aka around a grand or under?)

basically if I don't NEED to swap and can still get a pretty fun ride out of the stock motor that would be what I want. I'm not building a track car, just a run around fun car... but I also don't want a grandma slow sedan.


if someone could answer a couple of my questions or atleast one I would really appreciate it, I would like to get an idea of my options.

IMO a stock D16Z6 has enough pep for driving around... doesn't feel slow. Obviously isn't "fast"... but for a stock motor it definitely doesn't feel slow. It can get up and go when you need it to.
