Hey You!
Hi there. I've been lurking around for a bit now, reading some great builds and tips and such. Glad to be a member and look forward to seeing more great builds. My first civic project is in the planning stages so as it comes together I'll take some pics and be asking tons of questions. Cheers all...

Hello,
Name is Greg. I am an aircraft mechanic and have purchased my first ever Honda. It is a civic ex 1994 with roughly 218k miles. I purchased it from wrecker yard that had retrieved it as an abandoned vehicle - needed a head gasket and some minor mechanical - had it back on road. It had 193k miles when I got it. I have run into some issues.....
going to work one night ran great, stopped to pickup some grub, got back into car and it barely started and ran horrible. Troubleshooting revealed it needed a valve job. 250 bucks later....got it running again....very first drive to work ran great for about 20 miles then it developed a LOUD SLAPPING NOISE ENGINE INTERNAL. dropped bottom of engine and found #4 piston rod with some serious slop where it grabbed the crank due to migrated rod bushings. Cleaned all the metal shavings out - ordered and installed new "standard" bushings. Cleaned oil pump pick up. assembled everything with a healthy dose of (Scientifically Treated Petroleum) STP assembly fluid.
Fresh oil and filter (again), removed spark plugs, turned engine over several times to get oil up into the system, then started it again. Sounded great. Drove it around the block - Slapping noise returned.
Havent mic'd the crank journal yet but taking a wild guess it aint round no more.
I came to this forum on the advice of a co worker who drives nothing but hondas and uses this forum. (dont know his Forum name)
I am looking forward to contributing and recieving help.
I still need to navigate around a bit to see where I can fit in best - But I am looking forward to the experience.
thanks
G
