'01-'05 Civic K20 Swap Parts List
My local performance shop guys charge an extra $500 for K swaps. They say they are a pain in the **** to do. But I do know of a couple EK hatches rolling around here with Ks with a little work done....and they are indeed quick as hell.
As much of a pain in the *** as it might be and as little as that shop charges i would still like to at least get as much info into how to do it myself as i can so that i can weight my options a little better. I live in the middle of nowhere and actually getting it to a shop that might be able to do it would be a pain in the *** as well getting all the parts and having someone do the cutting and welding (because those are the only things i cant do myself) im sure wont be that hard since i know about 8 different guys that have already told me that they would do it. SO to anyone that has done this swap or has helped do one please give me as much info as you can
k... I just blew a bearing on my connecting rod journal and blew my motor on my 02... and now I am seriously thinking about putting in a k20... how many hours am I looking at??... doing all the work myself... and probably a couple guys from my shop will help
Things always manage to go wrong! So if youre a tech maybe a weekend. Or if youre a diyer a week. But you need to make sure you have everything before you start.
lol ok well I am a tech with full access to a shop so probably about a weekend... maybe a bit longer cuz I slack lol... but the k20a I am buying comes with engine tranny ecu alternator power steering and distributor (apparantly... lol didnt know they had a distributor) what other parts am I going to need to finish this swap...
like all those parts listed at the begining of this forum... are they really needed... cuz I dont really want to go and blow a bunch of money on parts and find out at the end of the build I didnt need half of them
I have not done the swap myself so I'm not sure but..... this website http://k20a.org/forum/ will be able to tell you alot.
You know, I've discussed my car in detail with a select few. It exists and I really couldn't care less, at this point, who believes it or not. My arrogance was one reason that **** got started, I'm sure. I figured I'd try to shed some light on the 7th gen community, seeing as there's alot more now than there was when I joined (1 or 2). Seeing as I'm probably one, if not the, most knowledgeable person as far as K-series swaps and EM2s, ES1s, EP3s and DC5s, I figured I'd try to help...again. Basically, love me or hate me, I don't really care. Life is about more than cars or bickering on internet forums.
Looks like I'm not alone haha.... Everyone wants to know what will fit.
I already know I need a k20 engine, where my issues lie are the many different k20 engines! As in, k20a, k20a2, k20a3, etc.
I have an '01 civic ex coupe and I'm wondering which engine is the engine that will best fit my car for most speed and power. Does anyone know?
The k20a has a 121.9 cu in. version and a 131.6 cu in. version. Should I go with the 1,998 cc or will the 2,157 cc version be best? (so many questions I know, sorry)
Just a guy needing some help,
Apollo
